In every culture, God’s soldiers will have to defend the truth against attacks, battling the arguments that deny or reject the knowledge of God. Christians must be sure that their measuring stick for all truth claims is the surety of divine revelation rather than the false security of human reason. Any teaching that exalts itself against God must be rebuked and discarded!

In 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul writes, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." This verse is part of a larger passage where Paul is discussing spiritual warfare and the importance of aligning one's thoughts and actions with God's will. When Paul speaks of "bringing every thought into captivity," he is emphasizing the need for believers to control their thoughts and ensure that they are in line with the teachings of Christ.

Practicing spiritual discipline involves several key practices that help align one’s thoughts and actions with the teachings of Christ. According to 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul emphasizes the importance of controlling one’s thoughts and ensuring they are obedient to Christ.

Here are some steps to practice spiritual discipline:

1. Discernment: Recognizing and rejecting thoughts, arguments, and ideas that are contrary to the knowledge of God.  "...And take the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:17) The only weapon for offense in the Christian's armor is the Word of God.

2. Obedience: Submitting one's thoughts to the authority of Christ and ensuring that they align with His teachings and values. Stay focused.

3. Spiritual Discipline: Practicing self-control and mindfulness to maintain a focus on godly thoughts and avoid being swayed by worldly influences. By taking every thought captive, believers can strengthen their faith, resist temptation, and live in a way that honors God. This process requires ongoing effort and reliance on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength.

Stay strong and be blessed.
