In his sermon to the crowds on the Day of Pentecost Peter reveals the power of the Almighty God in that Jesus was raised from the dead he states:
"God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it."
One sentence, within which lies the fate of all followers. As He was raised so we too shall be raised with Him. This is the glorification piece in the three-fold process of justification, sanctification, glorification. Just as Jesus has an incorruptible body so shall we have incorruptible bodies to live with Jesus through eternity. It is the most absolute renewal that we will ever experience.
Renewal in Acts 2:32
This verse is a powerful testimony to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which lies at the heart of spiritual renewal and transformation for believers. Here’s how renewal is reflected in this passage:
Renewal Through Resurrection
The resurrection of Jesus represents the ultimate act of renewal—overcoming death and bringing new life. It signifies God’s power to bring life where there was death, and hope where there was despair.
Believers share in this renewal by embracing the promise of eternal life and the transformation of their hearts through faith in the risen Christ (Romans 6:4).
Witnessing Renewal
The statement, "we are all witnesses of it," highlights the role of the apostles and early believers in sharing the truth of the resurrection. Witnessing this renewal inspired them to spread the Gospel, which sparked the renewal of countless lives.
Renewal comes as we live out the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and bear witness to its transformative power in our own lives and communities.
Renewal of Relationship with God
Jesus’ resurrection restored humanity’s ability to have a renewed and reconciled relationship with God. Through Christ’s victory over sin and death, believers are invited into a life of peace, forgiveness, and fellowship with God.
This renewal begins when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and continues as we grow in our relationship with Him.
Renewal of Purpose
For the apostles, the resurrection renewed their sense of mission and purpose. It empowered them to boldly proclaim the message of salvation despite persecution and hardships.
Jesus’ resurrection renews our purpose as His followers, calling us to live in ways that reflect His love, grace, and truth to the world.
Acts 2:32 points to the resurrection of Jesus as the cornerstone of renewal—renewal of life, relationship with God, and purpose for believers. It serves as both a declaration of hope and a call to action for those who seek to live in the light of Christ's transformative power.
Stay strong and be blessed
